Citizens' Alliance for Property Rights
Citizens' Alliance for Property Rights was organized in 2003 as a non-partisan political action committee where individual citizens and existing organizations can work together protecting property rights.
We support equitable and scientifically sound land use regulations that do not force private landowners to pay disproportionately for public benefits enjoyed by all. We protect everyone's property rights by:
- Presenting a single coordinated voice dedicated to preserving and protecting individual property rights.
- Electing legislators pledged to protect, not destroy, property rights and electing judges pledged to uphold our constitutionally guaranteed right to own and control property.
- Promoting legislation to preserve and protect property rights while opposing excessively burdensome legislation and regulation.
- Reducing the regulatory cost of property ownership.
When facing complicated and weighty land-use laws, a helping hand is needed to become oriented and form a plan.
Our Advocate Program connects volunteers with those needing help with building permits, code violation, and the maze of paperwork involved in trying to understand the system. Perhaps you have received help in the past or will in the future.
Legal Fund is what makes this very popular program possible. Our Advocate Program relies on volunteer help and does not take the place of legal advice.
CAPR's Three Corporations
CAPR is made up of three non-profit corporations that work together to protect private property rights.
CAPR is the membership umbrella organization over thePolitical Action Committee and Legal Fund.
Membership is for everyone-from renters, to small residential homeowners to large ranches. Everyone is affected by land use regulations. Monthly meeting and mailing lists are ways for members to stay in touch with what is happening on the property rights front.
Politicians only recognize political power. The political power of CAPR rests in the number of members we have. The more members we have the more political power we have.
CAPR Political Action Committee works to elect property rights minded officials including judges. The PAC has won major victories for property owners including taking a case to the Washington State Supreme Court.
Political action committees are a government-approved method with which people with common goals can pool their resources to maximize the return on their campaign dollars. There are no limits to what you can give, unlike contributions to specific candidates. We organized for the specific purpose of finding, endorsing and funding candidates in Washington who will promote and defend our constitutionally guaranteed right to own and control property. That is and will always be our primary purpose.
CAPR Legal Fund
CAPR Legal Fund aggressively litigates against wrongful laws and regulations.
The CAPR Legal Fund handles the legal defense of our property rights as well as the education of citizens, politicians, and bureaucrats on property rights issues. It is an affiliated organization that is organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit so contributions are tax deductible.
The Legal Fund makes the Advocate Program possible. Our Advocate Program connects knowledgeable volunteers with those needing help navigating the bureaucratic system. Perhaps you have received help in the past or will in the future.
