Spokane Citizens strongly object to the addition of fluoride to their drinking water, in the belief that drinking and household water should be as pure as possible without additives or what can be considered a drug.

Spokane Mayor Woodard weighs in on costs:

...."In 2004, the City conducted a fluoridation feasibility study prior to a ballot measure for the public to decide if fluoridation should be added to the water. The ballot measure was ultimately struck down; however, the study was updated in 2017 to determine what changes to the regulations, materials, flowrates, or existing facilities have occurred that significantly impact the nature and cost of a fluoridation implementation project. The updated study found that adding fluoridation could cost roughly $6 million in capital and about $600,000 for operating costs annually (chemicals and personnel primarily). Additionally, because we don't have a single drinking water treatment plant, we would have to add equipment at each of our source well sites, which adds to costs. In the City, only about 0.3% of the total water pumped is used as drinking water...

...At this time, the associated costs of adding fluoridation to the water are not in our capital plans or budgets, and as you may know, the City is facing a budget shortfall due to the COVID-19 economic impact. Adding a project to the City's 6-year capital plan will defer other projects that have been prioritized and funded. My Administration is hopeful that the Council will balance any decisions about fluoridation with the economic impact to citizens. We will continue to listen to citizens and any further developments will be communicated to the public."

Sincerely, Nadine Woodward

The board of the Spokane Chapter of (CAPR), Citizens’ Alliance for Property Rights, www.capr.us objects to fluoridating Spokane’s water supply. CAPR promotes the individual rights of Spokane citizens to drink pure, clean, unaltered, drug free water that Spokane currently provides. Whereas, the fluoridation proposal is an inflexible, tyrannical approach to force all Spokane citizens to drink water which contains a drug, fluoride.

Under the idea of social justice, we think the Spokane City Council members are working a scheme to force a chemical drug, fluoride, into Spokane’s pristine water supply. Council members have teamed up with the Arcora Foundation and Delta Dental to seal the deal. The Arcora Foundation endorses a social justice agenda of diversity, equity and inclusion. The big moneyed insurance company Delta Dental has offered three million dollars to Spokane to build the infrastructure to fluoridate Spokane’s water supply.

Thus, the council, Arcora and Delta are working in tandem to pass an emergency ordinance to fluoridate Spokane’s water supply, without public testimony. Spokane citizens have rejected the addition of fluoride into Spokane’s water supply in three separate referendums.

Our Spokane CAPR board members urge you to vote against the agenda to force fluoridation on all Spokane citizens. Stand with (CAPR) www.capr.us to protect individual rights for a safe, drug free, fluoride free, water supply for ALL Spokane citizens.

Here is a link to a very informative blog about the fluoridation of water and how people reject throughout the world. https://oldmanoftheski.com/2020/08/19/fluoridation-wars-what-you-need-to-know/?fbclid=IwAR3GBrISS5PuzDs6rC6IiCilv10euWHiYyHiG_VZmosCeR_vhkhzyLM22-0

This is what people are saying in objection to the idea being pushed by government without a vote of the people, knowing citizens have rejected the addition of fluoride a few times in past when put to a vote of the people.

"As a dental hygiene student in 1972, my professor’s assignment was to research the benefits and risks of using fluoridated water. I remember quite vividly that several journal articles showed that kidney dialysis patients were negatively impacted with fluoridated water. That negative effect on a subset of patients bothered me, but I thought that the benefits of adding fluoride to a water supply must outweigh the negative medical consequences. But I was wrong.

Fast forward to today. A friend of mine with Covid 19 has recently undergone kidney dialysis treatments. I am concerned, because research still shows that fluoridated water poses a risk to dialysis patients. Even if one decides to obtain non fluoridated water for drinking and cooking, taking a shower in fluoridated water can increase fluoride concentrations in one’s body.

The Spokane City Council must not ignore the fact that placing an additive like fluoride into a water supply adversely impacts some individuals in our community. This seems disrespectful. Will the council respect the needs of kidney dialysis patients who are struggling to stay alive or ignore 50 years of established science and put vulnerable people at risk?"

"The chemicals used to fluoridate Spokane's drinking water will be fluorosilicic acid. Unlike the fluoride compounds found in toothpaste or supplements, fluoridation chemicals are not pharmaceutical grade quality. They are, instead, unpurified industrial by-products that are collected in the air pollution control systems of the phosphate fertilizer industry.

Due to the lack of processing, these chemicals are known to contain elevated levels of certain contaminants, particularly arsenic: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4090869/

Recent research — including both epidemiological and laboratory investigations — have detected associations between the fluoridation of water with fluorosilicic acid and elevated lead exposure, particularly those living in houses with old pipes:

The chemicals are incredibly corrosive, shorten the lifespan of the water infrastructure, endanger water employees and first responders, and regularly cause accidents and overfeeds: http://fluoridealert.org/content/recent-fluoridation-related-accidents/

Until recently, all fluoridation chemicals were obtained from the wet scrubbing systems of the phosphate fertilizer industry in central Florida. However, an increasing number of water departments have begun purchasing their fluoride chemicals from China. Based on recent incidents, it appears that the quality control of the Chinese chemicals is even more lax, and variable, than the U.S.-produced chemicals: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=218132512619410"

"It is appalling that the City of Spokane is considering adding Flouride to its water supply without a vote to the people, or at the very least, taking serious note that this issue has been voted down 3 times in the past.  Might the City of Spokane consider that adding Flouride is a one-size-fits-all scenario?   One-size-fits-all solutions never work!  Might they consider those with immune system concerns, or those with serious health-compromised issues should not be taking in Flouride in addition to what they might already be getting from toothpaste, mouth rinses, and at the dentist's office?  Many people are getting regular dental car and do not need extra Flouride, and others do not want it forced upon them.

It is noble and good to help the poor and other underprivileged children with dental care.  There are ways to get Flouride to those who need it for dental prevention without adding it to everyone's clean water.   Money spent on a specific population is money well-spent, unlike money spent for a specific population but includes everyone whether they want it or not.  That is wasteful!  Does the City Council know that most of western Europe does not add Flouride to their water?  Let's put our tax dollars into good use, please.  No one-size-fits-all because we are NOT an all-one-size people!"

"Beware, the Fluoride peddlers are back  using the Arcora Foundation and  Delta Dental's offer of three   million  dollars  to persuade our city council to Fluoridate our water.  Having been stopped three times at the polls they are determined to bypass a vote of the citizens . The  Spokane region has spent 10's of millions of  taxpayer dollars  to remove from our rivers and lakes arsenic, lead, phosphates and other pollutants  from by products of mining and other industries.  All our  nation's fluoridation  chemicals  are unpurified industrial byproducts of the pollution control systems of the phosphate fertilizer  industry of central Florida  and now China. Fluoride is more toxic than lead and only slightly less toxic than arsenic.  What they can't sell for "water treatment" has to go into huge  expensive toxic waste ponds.  Why would  the City council  buy, at taxpayer expense,  these industrial  by products  and inject them into our water system knowing full well the  toxic effects these  fluoride compounds will have on us, our animals, our plants, our trees , our rivers and fish??   Most of the world says NO, 97% of western Europe has said NO, and  our city council should also continue to say NO to Fluoridated water."

CAPR suggests you inform  your self, and then make your opinion and voice heard!
