May 11, 2024 Update on

Pierce County Resolution 2024-158s - CALL TO ACTION!

Scheduled Hearing: May 14th, 2024 at 3:00 PM.

Let your position be heard!

We are impacting this process and working to force the following Pierce County Council Member's vote against your property rights; RYAN MELLO, ROBYN DENSON, MARTY CAMPBELL and JANI HITCHEN.

These 4 council members want to destroy your retirement, restrict generational housing, raise property taxes and divert road taxes to bike paths and walking lanes making traffic even worse.

WE NEED YOU TO ATTEND!

Pierce County Council is presently considering the following code change: Amendment #5. Eliminate the Rural 5 designation and replace it with the Rural 10 designation.

If your property is 10 acres or greater, the comprehensive plan will result in you losing your ability to maximize density, subdivide and build an additional house(s).

The average market price for these lots is $150,000 - $350,000.

Don't let your property value be taken away!

We need your help ASAP to stop this.

For more information: Joshua Hosford, President, 253-632-1562, or Carolyn Harding, 253-307-2733.

Attend the Council Meeting: Verbal testimony will be accepted in person at the County City Building, Room 1046 located at 930 Tacoma Ave S, Tacoma, WA.

Pierce County Council Community Development and Environment Committee

1:30pm on April 29th, 2024

County City Building

930 Tacoma Ave S, Tacoma, WA 98402

Council Chambers is on the 10th floor.

Here is a link to proposed resolution Resolution R2024-158.

We made a difference with these groups:

1-AG Commission as of March recommendation to council

2-Planning Commission as of April 16th recommendation to council

3-County Executive as of April 13th public release and presentation to council April 16th

HOWEVER we still have a 4-3 Council vote against us.

Testimony should be similar to what they said at the Planning Commission meetings. It's crucial that we show up in numbers and they tell their story in front of this Committee.

This Committee is the first opportunity to speak to the Council. We want to try and get the Council to oppose removing the maximum density option as they create Resolution R2024-158. This Resolution becomes the basis for the preferred alternative for the Council to vote on in the next few months.

Let your position be heard!
