YOUR CAPR LEGAL FUND SUPPORT HELPS WITH A WIN IN THE SUPREME COURT!

By Jeff Wright, President, CAPR Legal Fund

July 27, 2019

Citizens’ Alliance for Property Rights supporters are well aware that we are living in a political environment that is unfriendly to property rights, especially in Washington and California.  Examples of this run the gamut from politicians and groups who don’t care for our constitutional rights to new layers of regulations which, even if well intentioned merely exacerbate the problem.  Think the homelessness problem for instance.  With so many “opportunities” to fight for property rights, CAPR Legal Fund continually looks for ways to stretch your support dollars.  One of the ways we do that is by collaboration with like-minded organizations.

July 19, 2019 by Cindy Alia

On June 26, 2019 the King County Charter Review Commission has taken up the task of changing your right to vote for a sheriff, replacing that right with an appointment by the county executive:

“AN ORDINANCE proposing to amend the King County Charter to reestablish the office of county sheriff as an executive appointed position; amending Sections 5 350.20.40, 680.10, and 890 of the King County Charter and repealing Sections 645 and 898 of the King County Charter; and submitting the same to the voters of the county for their ratification or rejection at the next general election to be held in this county occurring more than forty-five days after the enactment of this ordinance.”

CAPR Strives to Provide Oversight on State Board of Health

State Board of Health Significant Rule-making has been embarked upon on several topics.  CAPR is working to provide oversight of the rule-making process regarding rules changes that will impact property owners' rights.  Two areas of concern are the ongoing indepth rule changes for septic system (OSS) permitting and management.  Another topic that can impact property owners negatively is "Animal Waste Management".  CAPR has gained a seat at the stakeholder meetings on both of these topics with the intention of protecting property rights as rules review takes place.

The OSS rule-making process has been happening for several months and has been reviewing many pages of already burdensome rules.
