2021 Legislative Session Bills That Will Impact Rental Property Owners and Tenants!

Recent legislative sessions have shown a trend of state legislators believing they must become co-managers of rental properties through passing legislation that directs how rental property owners and tenants must interact under specific conditions.  This year especially so as a result of COVID related eviction moratoria.

This listing of legislation belabors the point, read the proposed bills and comment to legislators.

By Cindy Alia, December 11, 2020

Corrected, update December 11, 6:55 pm

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson should not be a party to this suit alleging the state of Texas has no standing under the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.  In the Judiciary Act of 1789, Congress made the Supreme Court's original jurisdiction exclusive in suits between two or more states.

Voter Remorse So Soon?

By Cindy Alia, November 16, 2020

“The urge to save humanity is almost always a false face for the urge to rule it.” ---H.L. Mencken.

A plan by any other name is not liberty!  Those who voted to re-elect Jay Inslee are in part responsible for resurecting Proclamation 20-25, which first reared its devastating head with the COVID restrictions Inslee promulgated early in 2020.  Will the voters feel remorse when they feel the economic downfall soon to follow?  In other words, will you miss your favorite remaining restaurant, hair stylist, coffee shop, or any other independently owned small business?  Will their employees miss their paychecks, especially just before our Holiday Season?

Cary Condotta Co-founder of Restore Washington Discusses Initiative 1114

Recently, your CAPR Webinar team had the opportunity to have a conversation with Cary Condotta about Initiative 1114, The 14 day Emergency Powers Act !

You can view the webinar conversation here

We must Restore the Balance of Power to We the People  This initiative will do that by limiting the Emergency Powers Act in Washington State Law.  I-1114 limits emergency Proclamations issued by the Governor to no longer than 14 days unless extended by a vote of the Legislature. The Legislature may not extend a proclamation through mere letters from leadership, but must vote. No individual extension may exceed fourteen days.
